Our Sustainable Local Hardwoods
Our furniture is crafted from hand selected boards that come from very large and old trees that have suffered storm damage or have "passed on" by other means. The colors, grain, texture and quality of the urban and rural hardwoods is simply amazing and is not found in any mass produced furniture. By hand selecting hardwood boards, tops are grain matched and often book-matched while the color and texture is always consistent as each piece of furniture is made from the same tree. If you have never seen a book-matched figured Walnut or Cherry slab table top, you are missing out on the very best of natures artwork.
We use local kiln dried Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Ash, Sycamore and Elm hardwoods. Our Black Walnut comes from large urban and rural trees and is natural in color and beautiful rather the usual steamed brown sapwood. Our Walnut and Cherry is also purchased in wide slabs which allows using wonderful book-matching of wide boards rather than gluing up several thinner board like most furniture manufactures. The quality of our locally sourced hardwood is vastly superior to even the finest American furniture-makers who cannot expend the time to source the finest hardwood. We also use exotic hardwoods such as Mahogany, Sapele, Bubinga, Brazilian Cherry and Teak in furniture making and in our custom yacht interiors.
