Spiritcraft Furniture began as a stress relief hobby well over two decades ago in a one man shop with the goal being designing and crafting heirloom quality solid wood furniture that would endure generations. Over the years, we built a reputation as a company to be relied upon for offering that were made correctly from premium non threatened hardwoods. Our company has since grown into a production solid wood table top company that remains committed to producing enduring quality solid wood tables and table tops. Our tables, table tops and hardwood legs are fabricated at our table manufacturing facility located in East Dundee, Illinois. Our well-equipped woodshop features industrial machinery that allows for efficiency while assuring the unsurpassed quality we are known for. The woodworking machinery in our fully equipped wood shop is geared exclusively towards making solid-wood table tops. Our high volume spray booth assures that each table top is finished to the highest quality using the Milesi 2k Polyurethane line of products.
Our heralded glue joints are the result of both our woodworking experience and a true dedication to quality and long term table top endurance. Each and every glue joint is crafted to be square, true and parallel using our precision industrial jointers. All glue joints are dry fit before glue-up and machined again if not absolutely perfect. We do not use biscuits, dowels, bowties or other aids as none of these strengthens a properly crafted glue joint. Further, we feel that the use of mechanical glue joint aids is a telltale sign that a woodworker does not trust the long term durability of a glue joint. Our finely crafted splined miter joints in our hardwood legs and waterfall tables are widely heralded and trusted for their long term durability. We will never cut corners, even if asked to do so as our valued reputation would hang in the balance.
We carefully select each and every piece of solid hardwood for the tables and table tops that we build. Our board selection process helps to assure that the grain match is eye appealing and that the boards and slabs are arraigned in the way that will assure long term stability. To assure long term endurance, we use relatively wider boards for table tops as opposed to "butcher block tops" that are crafted from strips of wood. Every board, plank or slab in our shop is kiln dried to 6-8% moisture content which is an absolute necessity in making quality table tops and tables. All hardwood boards are purchased in premium grades which assures premium quality solid wood tables & surfaces.
Our Black Walnut live edge tables are crafted from selected slabs that come from trees that have suffered storm damage, have "passed on" by other means or were headed for the chipper due to road construction etc.. The colors, grain, texture and quality of these urban and rural sustainable hardwoods is simply amazing and is not found in commercially sourced Walnut which is steamed to mute color variation. We purchase logs from downed or felled rescued trees and have them sawn to our specifications before kiln drying them in our on-site USA made Nyle Dehumidification Kiln. Again, every board or slab in our shop has been properly kiln dried and "conditioned".
Although we run a production solid wood table top facility, we strive to keep our turnaround times very competitive. Delivery & lead times are dependent on many factors such as the quantity of pieces ordered, the current shop order flow, and schedule of our chair, hardwood and steel leg suppliers. Lead times usually vary between 8 to 10 weeks for most orders with chairs requiring a longer lead time. Hospitality, commercial restaurant and corporate solid work surfaces and desktops in quantity, without bases are often produced at a quicker lead time. We personally deliver our live edge, plank and round solid wood tables and table tops within 250 miles of our workshop and showroom in East Dundee, Illinois. National personal delivery and installation is also possible for larger commercial orders depending on our national scheduled commercial delivery schedule. We ship tables and table tops nationally using select freight companies. The shipping industry has changed radically post Covid and we are continually sourcing carriers who can be trusted and are efficient and eliminating those who are not. All nationally shipped tables and tops are fully insured and custom crated in plywood to ensure safe delivery.
We ship nationally and delivery locally to the Greater Chicago area. We also ship more than fifty percent of our solid wood tables and table tops nationally to clients to other states including California, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington State, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington DC, the Carolinas and more.
